Baseball Recap: Lucy Beckham Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Lucy Beckham had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Chapin Eagles on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Bengals: when they faced off against the Eagles on Wednesday, they had to take a 8-7 defeat.

Levi Srock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lucy Beckham is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Kingston Kolb was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Hank Aeppli was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

The win made it two in a row for Lucy Beckham and bumps their season record up to 17-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Chapin, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.

As of now, neither Lucy Beckham nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
