Baseball Recap: Carson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Concord

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carson). They put the hurt on the Concord Spiders with a sharp 16-3 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Carson Kirk was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Corbin Hales was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Carson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Concord, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
