Basketball Recap: North Gem Comes Up Short

North Gem had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it nine. They were outmatched by the Challis Vikings and fell 79-22. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-9.

As for Challis, they now have a winning record of 6-5. That looming 79-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Challis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teage Erickson, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Erickson a new career-high in field goal percentage (69%). Another player making a difference was Parker Webster, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 22 points.

Meanwhile, Challis is set to challenge their familiar foe Mackay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Webster and Cooper Holt.
