Volleyball Recap: Crystal City Extends Winning Streak to Three

Crystal City had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Dilley Wolves with a sharp 3-0 win. The Javelinas have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Crystal City was: they took every set by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-8, 25-10.

Alyson Mata paced Crystal City's offense, picking up 13 kills. Mata really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 22. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Anayeli Luna, each putting up four.

Crystal City's record is now 19-6. As for Dilley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Crystal City will square off against rival Hondo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dilley is set to take on their familiar foe Poteet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
