Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton County Foxes vs. Carterville Lions

The Hamilton County Foxes will face off against the Carterville Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton County will be strutting in after a win while Carterville will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Hamilton County strolled past Flora with points to spare, taking the game 42-25. Given the Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Wolves are ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carterville came up short against Murphysboro on Friday and fell 58-47.

The victory made it two in a row for Hamilton County and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Carterville, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Hamilton County came up short against Carterville in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 54-41. Can Hamilton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
