After losing to Meridian the last time they met, Silver Lake decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Silver Lake put the hurt on Meridian with a sharp 51-28 victory on Friday. Silver Lake has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Sophie Schmidt, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Katy Soucek was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Silver Lake was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Meridian lost, don't look at Jaylee Sobotka. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Meridian's points, marking the 11th time in a row Sobotka has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Filipi, who scored seven points.

Silver Lake is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points over those games. Meridian dropped their record down to 6-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Silver Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-13 win against Harvard on the 19th. As for Meridian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-36 loss against Lawrence-Nelson on the 19th.
