Palma dropped their record down to 18-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Monterey Dores by a score of 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Chieftains, who until this game were averaging 3.13 runs allowed.

Damian Ybarra led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Alan Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Monterey, their record is now 9-15. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Monterey's side, Johnny Money made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Monterey is undefeated when Money allows one or fewer hits, but 6-15 otherwise. Money was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Money wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Rose, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and three RBI. Rose has become a key player for Monterey: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-14 otherwise.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palma will head out to take on St. Francis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Sharks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Monterey, they will venture away from home to square off against Soledad at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dores are facing the Aztecs at the right time seeing as the Aztecs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
