With a playoff game on the line, the Martin Luther King Cougars rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 44-36 win over the Dragons.
Martin Luther King found their leader in underclassman Benito Scott, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Makhai Robinson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Martin Luther King's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for TECH Freire Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin Luther King will challenge Constitution at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Constitution will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Martin Luther King surely won't give up without a fight. As for TECH Freire Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Thomas A. Edison at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Thomas A. Edison is ranked 422nd, while TECH Freire Charter is ranked 403rd).
