Flag Football Recap: St. Francis Troubadours vs. Oak Ridge Trojans
Despite a strong season so far, St. Francis has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They lost to the Oak Ridge Trojans on the road by a 26-7 margin on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-2 back in September.
Even if they lost, St. Francis' defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Tayli Paeu-Lindgren was especially locked on to Oak Ridge's QB and sacked her twice. Another thorn in the Trojans' side was Monet Zauner, who made nine total tackles and defended four passes in addition to snagging an interception.
A big part of Oak Ridge's victory came down to the chemistry between Maya Scipio and her top target Laurel Smart. Scipio threw for 346 yards and four TDs while Smart picked up 163 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 346 passing yards gave Scipio a new career-high.
St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Oak Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
