Softball Recap: Schaumburg Wins Going Away Against Waukegan

Schaumburg never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Waukegan Bulldogs as they made off with a 16-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Saxons needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Bryana Skweres made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Schaumburg got a massive performance out of Sarah Donohue, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Addison O'Neill was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Schaumburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Schaumburg's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-15. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Waukegan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-19.

Schaumburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-2 victory against Palatine on the 19th. As for Waukegan, they have also already played their next game, a 17-2 defeat against Mundelein on the 19th.
