Cottondale skates past Wewahitchka with ease

Recap: Cottondale Hornets vs. Wewahitchka Gators

The Cottondale Hornets came tearing into Tuesday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Wewahitchka on the road to the tune of 67-33. Given Cottondale's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Gators are ranked 757th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cottondale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Odom led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Odom hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Cole Reagan, who scored 13 points along with six steals.

Cottondale is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Wewahitchka, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Cottondale will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Marianna's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups. As for Wewahitchka, they will head out on the road to face off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vernon is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
