Baseball Game Preview: Countryside Cougars vs. Mitchell Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Countryside Cougars will square off against the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Countryside will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Countryside came out on top against Indian Rocks Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Cougars walked away with an 8-5 win over the Eagles. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Brady Olson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Maverick Nickerson and Parker Rochkind did most of the damage at the plate: Nickerson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Rochkind went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two hits gave Nickerson a new career-high. Armando Monday was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mitchell came up short against Nature Coast Tech on Thursday, falling 11-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this contest were averaging 3.47 runs allowed.

Jacob Aponte was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mitchell is 2-1 when Aponte posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Countryside's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Mitchell, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
