Basketball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Comes Up Short

Deer Isle-Stonington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 89-34 loss at the hands of the Sumner Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mariners of the 66-20 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Deer Isle-Stonington's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Sumner, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Deer Isle-Stonington will finish 2024 at home by hosting Bangor Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Sumner will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Calais at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sumner's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
