Basketball Recap: Scarlett Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rossford over Fostoria

Rossford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Fostoria Redmen, falling 66-40. The matchup was a close 29-28 at the break, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs it sure didn't stay that way.

Rossford lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Scarlett Williams, who posted 16 points. That was a full 40% of Rossford's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaghan Mahaffey, who scored six points along with 12 boards and four blocks.

Alycia Middlebrooks had a dynamite game for Fostoria, going 12 of 27 on her way to 30 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Middlebrooks is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Lyrique Johnson, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Rossford's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Fostoria, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Rossford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-42 victory against Ottawa Hills on the 11th. As for Fostoria, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-37 win against Rossford on the 13th.
