Volleyball Preview: Lowell Red Arrows vs. Lakewood Vikings
The Lowell Red Arrows will challenge the Lakewood Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lowell took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Greenville as Lowell made off with a 3-0 victory.
Lowell never let Greenville on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-12, 25-12.
Lily Eveland and Rylie Barriger were among the main playmakers for Lowell as the former had eight digs and two aces and the latter had ten digs, four kills, and 28 assists. Barriger is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season.
Lowell was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last seven contests.
Meanwhile, Lakewood came tearing into last Tuesday's match with four straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 3-2.
Lowell's victory bumped their record up to 19-14-1. As for Lakewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.
