Softball Game Preview: Fulton Steamers vs. Newman Central Catholic Comets

Fulton is 1-8 against Newman Central Catholic since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Fulton will head out to take on Newman Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fulton lost 18-2 to Sherrard on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Newman Central Catholic suffered their biggest defeat since April 29, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Rockridge, falling 14-0. The loss continues a trend for the Comets in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Newman Central Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amiya Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Newman Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fulton, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Fulton couldn't quite get it done against Newman Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 as they fell 4-1. Can Fulton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
