Recap: Burkburnett Bulldogs vs. Springtown Porcupines
The Burkburnett Bulldogs were the 46-20 winner over the Springtown Porcupines when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Burkburnett was dealt a 70-14 defeat at the hands of Springtown on Friday. Burkburnett was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Despite the defeat, Burkburnett saw an underclassman step up: Robert Ingram rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown. Ingram really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Elijah Maldonado got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Burkburnett's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Springtown, Decatur, and Alvarado. As for Springtown, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Burkburnett will head out on the road to face off against Mineral Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Wells is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Springtown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wichita Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wichita Falls will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 608th, while Springtown is ranked 270th).
