Baseball Recap: Lamar Gets the Win

Lamar proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 19) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Bennett Tigers. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Alex Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lamar secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Stetson Hawkins, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lamar's record is now 11-8. As for Bennett, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10.

Coming up, Lamar will challenge The Classical Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season. As for Bennett, they will face off against Sterling at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
