Softball Game Preview: Clinton Redwolves vs. Ida Bluestreaks

The Clinton Redwolves will challenge the Ida Bluestreaks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Clinton is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Mary Catholic Central just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Falcons/Kestrels, falling 15-7.

Kylinn Long and Annabell Preston did some serious damage despite the final result: Long went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Preston went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Preston has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Popkey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Ida came up short against Flat Rock on Saturday and fell 8-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Bluestreaks in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Ida saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Lambert also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Ida, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went Clinton's way against Ida when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Clinton made off with a 13-2 victory. Do the Redwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluestreaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
