Softball Recap: Orange Takes a Loss

Orange might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was GRACE Christian who claimed the real prize. The Panthers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 9, 2025.

Orange saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Carden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Hayleigh Hammond also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Orange's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for GRACE Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Coming up, Orange will take on East Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for GRACE Christian, they will face off against Wake Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.6, the Bulldogs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
