Soccer Game Preview: Heritage vs. Centennial

The Heritage Coyotes will venture away from home to challenge the Centennial Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heritage is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Heritage had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Lebanon Trail on Tuesday. The Coyotes were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Trail Blazers. Given Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Lebanon Trail are ranked 442nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heritage hit Lebanon Trail with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hayden Gibb, Bennett Kerr, Adam Morsi, and Ethan Stewart.

Meanwhile, Centennial has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 22. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Emerson on Tuesday. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Centennial couldn't quite close it out.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 8-8-5. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Heritage was able to grind out a solid win over Centennial in their previous matchup back in February, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Coyotes since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
