Football Game Preview: Morris vs. Rochelle Hubs

Morris will face off against the Rochelle Hubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rochelle will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Morris extended their winning streak to five on Friday. Morris blew past Kaneland 42-21. With Morris ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Morris had a senior duo take command as Caeden Curran rushed for 185 yards and two TDs and Brady Varner rushed for 104 yards and one score. Those 104 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Varner. Mick Smith was in the mix as well, providing Morris with two touchdowns.

Morris' run defense was locked in: Kaneland could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Keegan Kjellesvik for the heroic effort on defense: he. Morris didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.3.

Morris' defense didn't let Jack Polakowski, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Colin Zierman was the leader with two.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rochelle, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over LaSalle-Peru. That 33 point margin sets a new team best for the Hubs this season.

Rochelle now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Morris, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Morris suffered a grim 37-15 defeat to Rochelle in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rochelle's Dylan Manning, who rushed for 217 yards and four TDs on only nine carries.
