Recap: Ray Bearcats vs. The Gregory School Hawks

The Ray Bearcats can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against The Gregory School by a score of 41-29. The win was just what Ray needed coming off of a 34-12 defeat in their prior matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ray to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josselyn Lechuga, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lechuga has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaina Figueroa, who scored six points along with two steals.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zena Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 48.3% of The Gregory School's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rose Pisetsky was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.

Ray's win bumped their record up to 7-17. As for The Gregory School, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ray will take on Superior at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Superior focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Thursday. As for The Gregory School, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Patagonia at 5:30 p.m. Patagonia's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so The Gregory School's offense will have their work cut out for them.
