Softball Recap: Hightstown Has No Trouble Against Hopewell Valley Central

Hightstown won the last time they faced Hopewell Valley Central and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rams blew past the Bulldogs 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kady Olsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lillian Peto was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Hayden Bustos was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Hightstown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Hopewell Valley Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Hightstown will head out to take on Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hopewell Valley Central, they will host Hun at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
