Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Ridgecroft Rams
Lawrence Academy is 0-10 against Ridgecroft since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lawrence Academy Warriors will be playing at home against the Ridgecroft Rams at 7:30 p.m. Lawrence Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Ridgecroft likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lawrence Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Albemarle School 77-21 at home. With Lawrence Academy ahead 48-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Lawrence Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mari Larry out in front who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ben Woodard, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Ridgecroft posted their biggest victory since November 11, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northeast Academy 49-14 at home. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Ridgecroft has scored all season.
Nacir Lewis was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 20 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antron Gray, who scored eight points.
Lawrence Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Ridgecroft, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Lawrence Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Ridgecroft, though, as they've been averaging only 30.4 rebounds per game. Given Lawrence Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Ridgecroft will need to find a way to close that gap.
