Basketball Game Preview: Mogadore Wildcats vs. Canton Central Catholic Crusaders

The Mogadore Wildcats will square off against the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mogadore took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 47-11 victory over Windham. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mogadore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julie Tompkins, who posted nine points and three steals. Amelia Morris was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mogadore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 41 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Canton Central Catholic entered their tilt with Garaway on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pirates 59-27. That looming 59-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.

Mogadore has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Canton Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
