Baseball Game Preview: Amity Regional Spartans vs. North Haven Nighthawks

The Amity Regional Spartans will head out to square off against the North Haven Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Amity Regional's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so North Haven's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Amity Regional's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Xavier hitters got past them. The Spartans came up short against the Falcons on Monday, falling 12-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Haven, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Notre Dame on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Nighthawks have posted since April 24, 2024.

North Haven has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Amity Regional, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.

Amity Regional took their victory against North Haven in their previous meeting on April 8th by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
