Baseball Recap: Geneva County Comes Up Short

Geneva County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Ariton Purple Cats, falling 6-0. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 10-2 to the Purple Cats when the teams met back in April of 2015, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Geneva County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Shepard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Shepard has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Geneva County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Ariton, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

Geneva County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Malone at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th. As for Ariton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Abbeville at 4:30 p.m. Abbeville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something Ariton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
