Basketball Recap: Lansing Catholic Comes Up Short

Lansing Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waverly Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Warriors are ranked 11th).

Despite the loss, Lansing Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Seth Hahnenberg dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Tolfree, who posted ten points along with six assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lansing Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lansing Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Waverly, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.

Lansing Catholic has already played their next contest, a 60-41 win against Eaton Rapids on the 4th. As for Waverly, they are taking a road trip to square off against East Lansing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in East Lansing's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matchups.
