Softball Game Preview: Lakeview Bulldogs vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons

The Lakeview Bulldogs will square off against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeview will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

On Monday, Lakeview earned a 5-2 win over Girard.

Ava Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Lakeview's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Barnott, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Ella Collins was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Austintown-Fitch faced Aurora in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Greenmen. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 13 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Austintown-Fitch also let their pitcher toss all five innings played and she was also dialed-in: Kourtney Fedorek gave up three earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Austintown-Fitch got a massive performance out of Abby Toth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Toth has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kylie Folkwein, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.

Lakeview's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Austintown-Fitch, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
