Baseball Game Preview: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. St. Xavier Bombers

The Oak Hills Highlanders will take on the St. Xavier Bombers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, Oak Hills came up short against Colerain and fell 6-2. The loss continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost four in a row.

Brayden Lipps was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, St. Xavier suffered their biggest defeat since April 21st on Thursday. They lost 9-1 to Badin. The Bombers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oak Hills' loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for St. Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Oak Hills couldn't quite get it done against St. Xavier in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 as they fell 4-0. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
