Volleyball Game Preview: Marathon Red Raiders vs. Chequamegon Screaming Eagles

The Marathon Red Raiders will face off against the Chequamegon Screaming Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marathon will be strutting in after a win while Chequamegon will be coming in after a loss.

Marathon barely beat Pacelli the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday.

While Marathon might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Pacelli scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Chequamegon came up short against Abbotsford on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Screaming Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Chequamegon started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-12, 25-10, 25-19.

Chequamegon now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Marathon, their win ended a five-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 12-12.

Marathon beat Chequamegon 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Screaming Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
