Basketball Recap: Anson Takes a Loss

Anson lost against Parkwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Anson Bearcats lost 60-34 to the Parkwood Wolf Pack.

When it comes to explaining why Anson lost, don't look at Za'Kiah Hixson. Despite the final result, she posted ten points along with seven steals and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Hixson a new career-high in blocks. Destiny Lindsey was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Parkwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Vaughn, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Peyton Collins, who went 6 of 15 to rack up 14 points and five steals.

Anson has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Parkwood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Monroe the next time they take the court. Anson will host Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Parkwood will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
