Softball Recap: Valley Has No Trouble Against Rio Grande

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley). Everything went their way against the Rio Grande Ravens on Saturday as the Valley Vikings made off with a 19-6 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Liliana Roybal and Aleyah Lucero did most of the damage at the plate: Roybal scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Lucero scored three runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Roybal has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Diggs, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

The win was the third in a row for Valley, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Valley has already played their next match, a 17-6 victory against Manzano on the 4th. As for Rio Grande, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-5 win against Sandia Prep on the 4th.
