Gillespie lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hillsboro, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Miners' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hilltoppers a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Braden Reich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Dawson Lancaster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gillespie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsboro only posted an OBP of .350.

Gillespie's victory bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Hillsboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Gillespie will square off against Staunton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillsboro, they will take on Cahokia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
