Baseball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Somerset suffered their biggest loss since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers, falling 9-2. The Briar Jumpers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2021.

Somerset saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Poyntr, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Somerset's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0.

Coming up, Somerset will take on Trinity at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Trinity's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Somerset's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they are taking a road trip to face off against St. Stanislaus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasure Ridge Park's pitchers better be ready for this one: St. Stanislaus has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
