Volleyball Recap: Christopher Cougars vs. Westmont Warriors
Christopher lost against Westmont back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Christopher Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westmont Warriors. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
While Christopher ultimately came up short, they really made Westmont work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22.
Westmont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Jones, who had 17 digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Helen Ho, who had 11 digs and four aces.
Christopher now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Westmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christopher will venture away from home to face off against Evergreen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Westmont, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Branham at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Branham is coming into the contest with five straight wins at home, so Westmont will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
