Softball Game Preview: Fergus Falls Otters vs. Alexandria Cardinals

Fergus Falls hasn't had much luck against Alexandria recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Otters will head out to face off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Fergus Falls lost 21-4 to Detroit Lakes on Tuesday. The Otters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cardinals on Tuesday. Alexandria took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willmar. The game marked Alexandria's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Maari Kvidt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Lauren Hornstein was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Alexandria's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Fergus Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Fergus Falls skirted past Alexandria 7-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Otters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
