Softball Recap: Lakeland Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Lakeland won the last time they faced Davison and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 12-5 victory. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly seven runs.

Paige Ambler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ambler was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Alyssa Goldman and Piper Huff did most of the damage at the plate: Goldman scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Huff scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Goldman has posted since back in May of 2024. Brynn Taliercio was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lakeland's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Davison, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Lakeland and Davison will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to challenge their familiar foe Walled Lake Northern at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Davison will face off against rival Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
