Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Russell couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They had to suffer through a 72-42 loss at the hands of the Blazer Tomcats. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Russell lost on Saturday, don't look at Kennedy Darnell. Despite the final result, she shot 58% from the field to rack up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Fleming, who posted nine points.

Russell's defeat dropped their record down to 25-8. As for Blazer, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-10.

Russell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blazer, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against North Laurel at 11:00 a.m. Blazer is on a six-game streak of home wins, North Laurel a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
