Baseball Recap: Chester Starts Season with Loss at Home

Chester unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Marissa Meteors on Tuesday, falling 12-6. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Meteors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Kolton Jany was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ethan Colvis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Chester has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Carbondale on the 20th. As for Marissa, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wesclin at 4:30 p.m. on April 2.
