Recap: Damonte Ranch Mustangs vs. McQueen Lancers
The Damonte Ranch Mustangs entered their tilt with the McQueen Lancers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Damonte Ranch rang in the new year with a 53-44 win over McQueen on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Damonte Ranch also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Damonte Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Garrett led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five rebounds. Mya Ghisletta was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven steals.
McQueen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Baumgardner, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Hilson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Damonte Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for McQueen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Damonte Ranch will be playing at home against Douglas at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Douglas is ranked 14th, while Damonte Ranch is ranked 27th). As for McQueen, they will head out on the road to face off against Spanish Springs at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Springs is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
