Softball Game Preview: Lee Academy Cavaliers vs. Carolina Academy Bobcats

The Lee Academy Cavaliers will head out on the road to take on the Carolina Academy Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lee Academy turned things around against Northside Christian Academy on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Crusaders.

Karagan Melton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Presleigh Greene and Beth Whiteside did most of the damage at the plate: Greene scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Whiteside scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Whiteside a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Grace Wilkes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Carolina Academy not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lee Academy a 6-0 shutout. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Carolina Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Lee Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.

Lee Academy might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Carolina Academy in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
