Soccer Recap: Rome Comes Up Short

After flying high against Carrollton last Friday, Rome came back down to earth. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Model Blue Devils who were credited with the victory on Tuesday. The Model Blue Devils got it done in the shootout by posting ten goals to the Rome Wolves' nine.

Rome's goal came courtesy of Melanie Hernandez, who's now up to four this season.

Rome's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matches. As for Model, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rome will venture away from home to take on Osborne at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Rome is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.1 goals per game this season. As for Model, they will head out to challenge Fannin County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Model also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 4.8 goals per game.
