Preview: Maple Heights Mustangs vs. Lorain Titans
Maple Heights and Lorain are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Maple Heights Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Lorain Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maple Heights will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Maple Heights beat Garfield Heights 28-22.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Lorain were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell just short of Bedford by a score of 15-12. Lorain's defeat signaled the end of their 5-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Lorain had strong showings from John Salaman, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and Ocir Kimble, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Maple Heights' victory bumped their season record to 6-5 while Lorain's defeat dropped theirs to 7-2.
Maple Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Lorain in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, winning 32-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maple Heights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
