Baseball Game Preview: Simeon Wolverines vs. Brooks Eagles

Simeon and Brooks are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Wolverines will welcome the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Simeon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Simeon will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Solorio on Thursday. The Wolverines blew past the Sun Warriors 14-2. The Wolverines have beaten the Sun Warriors the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Sun Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Antonio Porterfield tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cavion Danley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Jones Jr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Simeon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Brooks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 12-0 to Bloomington. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Brooks' loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Simeon, their win bumped their record up to 8-9-1.
