Softball Game Preview: Jasper Bulldogs vs. Lumberton Raiders

The Jasper Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Lumberton Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Jasper fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Vidor on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 10-9. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Erika Gomez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. K Wysingle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Lumberton didn't have quite enough to beat Silsbee on Tuesday and fell 7-6. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lumberton now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Jasper, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-2.
