Pensacola Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Central Jaguars 7-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crusaders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Reed Rhodes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Bates, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Pensacola Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lane Grissett, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Pensacola Catholic's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.
