Baseball Game Preview: First Coast Buccaneers vs. Orange Park Raiders

The First Coast Buccaneers will challenge the Orange Park Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Coast is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Monday, First Coast came up short against Episcopal School of Jacksonville and fell 9-4.

Rob Chatman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. First Coast is 4-2 when Chatman posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Orange Park's offense. They came up short against Beachside on Wednesday, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Orange Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrihan Marty, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

First Coast's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Orange Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. First Coast has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Orange Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

First Coast couldn't quite get it done against Orange Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can First Coast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
