League recap: Fernandez dominating on the mound for Braddock

8A District 15 league recap: 4/3/13

Abel Fernandez was the best pitcher in 8A District 15 this week, leading Braddock. He picked up one win and ten strikeouts.

Brian Hernandez had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .467 average with six RBIs. The Bulldogs compiled a record of 3-0 in that time.

South Miami gave up just seven walks last week, ensuring that it held on to the top spot in the league in that category with only 34 allowed for the season.

Braddock stole 15 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 37 steals on the year.

The league boasted seven .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Danny Casals, who hit .500 by going 5-for-10.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Fernandez, who turned in ten Ks for the Bulldogs. With 20 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.

Robert Cancio struck out 11 in Southwest's 5-3 win over LaSalle on March 26. Over five innings of work, he gave up six hits and two runs.
